It's true that Drew is very well known and respected as one of the worlds best Hair Straightening Technicians and his talent in Hair Extensions is quite superb as well, but Straightening and Lengthening Hair wasn't something Drew had even thought much about when he began his career more than ten years ago.

Jose Eber >
Initially, Drew had set his focus on becoming a Color Specialist and so upon graduating from cosmetology school he began his career as a Hair Colorist first by becoming an assistant at the well known, for that time, Jose Eber Salon at South Coast Plaza. There Drew assisted some of the best and most creative Hair Colorists in Southern California.

Being an assistant would prove to be hard work with long hours and be mostly financially un-rewarding. But Drew had a vision, and a goal for his future, so in addition to assisting top Colorists in the salon during the day, Drew would stay late nearly every night, and often after closing, practicing his craft and developing his Hair Coloring Skills on"clients of his which were loyal followers of his from cosmetology school.

Drew would stay at Jose Eber for almost a year before realizing his personality was better suited for a Hairdressing career with the well known leaders in Hairdressing education and innovation,Toni&Guy.

Toni&Guy >
Upon joining Toni&Guy Drew entered into a rigorous education program that was very well structured as well as quite challenging. This type of disciplined Hair Color training was welcomed graciously by Drew because he knew that with a Hair Color education program with clear requirements he could, and would, find his way on to "the floor" in a year or less.

It's interesting to keep in mind that Drew had already spent a year in cosmetology school and close to a year at Jose Eber, so by the time Drew would complete the Hair Colorist program at Toni&Guy he would have nearly three years of Hair Coloring education under his belt.

Drew graduated the Toni&Guy education program within a year, as planned, and remained at Toni&Guy for a little over three years.

Salon Gregories >
In Jan 2000 Drew left Toni&Guy for Salon Gregories where he immediately joined up with Dusty Simington to form an Artistic Team as well as restructure the failing assistants education program there. His new title, "Education and Color Director".

During the three years at Salon Gregories Drew worked with his Artistic Team doing photo shoots as the teams only colorist and, with the help of his team, put a working and effective Hairdressing education program into place.

Schwarzkopf Level Three Technical Advisor >
By Jan 2002 Drew advanced his own education by training with Schwarzkopf, a world leader in Hair Color, to become one of the very rare, and extremely well educated, Level Three Technical Advisors. With this new "degree" as a certified Hair Color Educator, Drew was well armed to handle any and all Hair Color challenges that he could possibly face. Drew also used his new and existing Hair Coloring Science knowledge in every part of his career from educating others to improving his own Hair Coloring skills for the benefit of his clients.

By April 2003 Drew's work with the Artistic Team as Color Director had been published in well over two dozen magazines worldwide and he had the honor to participate in, and co-direct, countless Hairdressing events from photo shoots, beauty contests, professional makeovers and educational events. Drew was honored even further with an appearance on an episode of the Make Over Story as that episodes Hair Colorist.

Having fulfilled many of his Hairdressing dreams, and after gaining some recognition, Drew would say goodbye to Salon Gregories, the Artistic Team and his position as Educator to get back to basics with his clients and move on to the next level of his career.

Today Drew doesn't lead the somewhat "glamorous" career he once did but the experience and skills that he developed are still his. Today, Drew is enjoying his career with his clients at the high-end, and very beautiful, Armando Salon in Newport Beach where he strives to create not only excellence in Hair but also a great Salon experience overall.
